The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia presents This Day in James Bond Movie History - commemorating many milestones. First, let’s wish Lashana Lynch of the latest film No Time To Die (2021) a Happy Birthday.

Swatched in secrecy, Lashana Lynch's character is identified as an MI6 operative who may be carrying the 007 prefix because James Bond (Daniel Craig) has retired. Still photos from the set show that she is definitely knee deep in the action.

Let’s also wish Samantha Bond a Happy Birthday. Samantha was Miss Moneypenny during the Pierce Brosnan era (1995–2002). Of course, an actress with that last name was bound to be recruited into the 007 universe.

November 27th also wrote a final chapter for a number of Bond veterans.


• Passing on this day in 1981 was Lotte Lenya, so memorable as the evil Colonel Klebb in From Russia with Love (1963).
• Peter Burton, the first Q, featured in 1962's Dr. No, passed in 1989.
• Marc Lawrence, who played one of the Las Vegas gangsters in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Rodney, the initial target of 1974's The Man with the Golden Gun, passed in 2005
• Never Say Never Again (1983) director Irvin Kershner left us on this day in 2010.
