Kim Basinger Domino Never Say Never Again
The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia presents This Day in James Bond Movie History - wishing actress Kim Basinger a very Happy Birthday. Kim portrayed the striking Domino Petacci in producer Jack Schwartzman’s Never Say Never Again (1983), which is essentially a remake of Thunderball (1965).

Kim Basinger is well-cast as the girlfriend of billionaire megalomaniac Maximilian Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer), easily the most jealous man on the planet.

Like the earlier Domino in Thunderball, she must be rescued from the SPECTRE spymaster and James Bond proves up to the task – especially in the hands of Sean Connery, returning for his last Bond outing. Looking considerably more fit than he did in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever, Connery meets Domino in Nice, France, where he steals into a classy health club and gives our fair damsel quite a massage. They later dance an exuberant tango., where key plot elements are revealed to the lady.

Kim Basinger would later win the Oscar® for Best Supporting Actress in L.A. Confidential (1997). She won the Bond role because of a suggestion from Schwartman’s wife, actress Talia Shire – Basinger’s husband was Shire’s hair stylist.

So let’s raise a pina colada to Kim on her birthday.
