IFF grundades som en ideell organisation 1992 av Dr Michael L. VanBlaricum, Douglas Redenius och John Cork. IFF är tillägnas studier om och bevarandet av historien om Ian Flemings litterära verk, fenomenet James Bond och dess inverkan på populärkultur. Ett av IFF:s mål är att hitta, återställa, bevara och arkivera Ian Flemings ursprungliga verk och alla efterföljande produkter av hans arbete. Detta inkluderar filmerna liksom varor och minnessaker från filmerna.
Under dess mer än 20-åriga existens har IFF kommit över 34 fordon som har använts i skapandet av James Bond filmerna från EON Productions. Dessa unika fordon har blivit ikoniska med den nyskapande filmserien. Bond-filmerna förändrade filmskapandet under andra halvan av 1900-talet och fortsätter att göra det än i dag.
• One of four scale models of the LOCKHEED MARTIN VC-140B JET STAR used for Goldfinger (1964) (1964)
• Underwater TOW SLED used by James Bond and the villain (Largo) in Thunderball (1965)
• One of two large scale models of the RAF/NATO VULCAN BOMBER that was built for the aerial and water tank shoots for the film.
• Scale model of the Model 47 Bell Helicopter made for You Only Live Twice (1967), one of two that have survived to this day.
• 1969 Cougar XR-7 2DR Convertible used extensively in the production of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), from the pre-title sequence all the way through to the chase in the Swiss alps. It has been well cared for and is in remarkable shape for its age.
• Underwater BATH-O-SUB used by 007's nemesis, Blofeld, to escape from the oil-drilling platform in Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
• A FORD MUSTANG MACH 1 429 COBRA JET that was used during the filming of the exciting Las Vegas car chase sequence.
• One of several HONDA ATV-90s used in the chase scene when Bond escapes Willard Whyte's Nevada factory while driving the moon buggy.
• The GLASTRON CHASE/JUMP BOAT used by 007 to jump over Sheriff J. W. Pepper's police vehicle in Live and Let Die (1973)
• This VILLAIN'S GLASTRON CHASE BOAT used by Dr. Kanaga's henchmen to chase 007 through the bayous of Louisiana.
• The AMC Hornet that was taken overseas to film the exciting chase sequence in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
• The Lotus submarine gadget car, fondly referred to as "WET NELLIE", is one of six cars built and used during the production of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
• The WETBIKE WATER CYCLE used by Bond to travel to Atlantis to save Agent Triple X.
• The GLASTRON AMAZON CHASE BOAT, often compared to the Aston Martin DB5, used in Moonraker (1979) (1979)
• The NEPTUNE SUBMARINE, one of two originally built for the production of For Your Eyes Only (1981)
• The only studio-rigged CV3 CITROEN used in FYEO.
• The AUTO-RICKSHAW TUK-TUK used by the henchman Gobinda to chase down and try to kill James Bond in Octopussy (1983) (1983)
• The RENAULT TAXI used by James Bond to pursue May Day as she escapes the Eiffel Towner in A View to a Kill (1985)
• The ASTON MARTIN VOLANTE in The Living Daylights (1987), one of several fiberglass special effects shells that were built to be used to show off the many Q gadgets
• The KENWORTH semi tractor truck, Aerodyne model W900B, one of only three that were produced for Licence to Kill (1989) by Kenworth Truck
• The CESSNA 172P Skyhawk in LTK, one of four planes used in the pre-titles sequence featuring Franz Sanchez's escape attempt
• The CAGIVA 600 W16 MOTORCYCLE used by the Russian soldiers during the pre-titles sequence in GoldenEye (1995) (1995)
• The 1997 BMW R1200C motorcycle used in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), one of eight used during the chase scene as Bond and Wai Lin escapes from an army of Carver's henchmen
• Major Boothroyd's famous 'Q' JET BOAT used in The World Is Not Enough (1999), one of 15 boats originally built for the production
• Three FLYING PARAHAWK first seen flying over the mountains making an attack run on Bond and Electra King in TWINE
• 1984 RUSSIAN LADA NIVA used as 'background' vehicle in TWINE
• Two BOMBARDIER REV 800 MXZ SKI-DOOs used by the villain's henchmen to try and capture and kill Bond in Die Another Day (2002)
• The only functional SWITCHBLADE built by the company hired to do the aerial stunts for DAD
• The custom-built jaguar XKR used in the car battle scene against 007's Aston Martin DBS in DAD
• The Ford Mondeo used by James Bond in the Bahamas to drive to his hotel from the airport in Casino Royale (2006)
Stiftelsens styrelse består för närvarande av fem personer: Ordförande är Ian Flemings litterära agent och mångåriga ordförande (pensionerad) för Ian Fleming Publications; Peter Janson-Smith i Storbritannien. President är Dr Michael L. VanBlaricum i USA. De övriga styrelsemedlemmarna är David Reinhardt i Kanada, Dave Worrall i Storbritannien och Brad Frank i USA.
I likhet med FSWL erbjuder IFF hjälp med forskning och råd inom en rad olika frågor som rör historien om Ian Fleming och hans litterära och filmiska skapelse, James Bond.
