Florida: A lucky golf player

In November 1991 I received an unexpected phone call from a person telling me I had won a trip to Tampa in Florida!

At first I didn't believe it, then I was shocked until I realised all this was true!

I had bought golf clubs from a new manufacturer the summer before and then entered their competition "A golf trip to the sun". Of course I was extremely grateful and happy but most of all thrilled to go there as I had wanted that for years.

My dear father and grandfather joined me and we had 10 unforgettable days in Florida end of January 1992.

Besides residing in a guarded area in Tampa, we were escorted by the police when we came. Maybe I looked like a Bond villain in their eyes!

Among things we did we visited the film studios in Orlando; Universal and MGM/Disney, as well as Kennedy Space Center on the east coast.

Luckily, and most surprisingly for us, we saw a space craft take off in front of our eyes!

To those of you who may not know, the space centre has a significance meaning for the plot in DR NO (1962).

My first trip to Florida is a trip that I will never forget!
