Young Bond author Charlie Higson launched his official website today. A great present for us and everyone else who admirers his work.

PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM CHARLIE HIGSON:

"Welcome to my new website, which is finally up and running. And welcome to this, my first blog. I shall be trying to update it as often as possible and keep you in touch with what I'm up to but as I am fundamentally lazy it might not always happen. It's a busy week this week as my new book The Dead (the follow up to The Enemy) is published on Thursday (the 16th). There's plenty of information about it elsewhere on this website plus full details of all the many events that I'm doing but I will just mention a couple of them here. This afternoon I'm going into Radio 4 to record a sort of comedy/drama/mock documentary type thing (I seem to have been doing quite a lot of these lately). It's called The Symphony For All Creation. And I'm playing the part of Doctor Sir Hilary Finn. The reason I was interested in doing it is that it is co-written by James Lever, the guy that wrote the brilliant Me Cheeta, which I read a couple of years ago. Then on Wednesday morning I'm doing Christian O'Connell's breakfast show on Absolute Radio.

On Thursday I’m with Sean Keaveny on BBC 6 music (thank God they saved it or that would be another 27 book sales down the drain). And then later in the day and I’m on the always excellent Robert Elms show on BBC London.

On Saturday I'm doing an event at the Chiswick Festival - look for details on the site. And in the afternoon I'm rescuing a copy of my book from a tank full of piranhas at Foyles (2 pm), which might be entertaining. Later in the month I'm doing A Book At Bedtime on CBeebies, although they haven’t told me what book I’m reading. I'm also finally doing Never Mind The Buzzcocks. They asked me a couple times when it first started and, much as I like Mark Lamar, I felt there was a vicious edge to the show which put me off doing it. I'd love to have done it when Simon Amstell was hosting, he's a lot of fun, but I think Jack Dee is hosting the one that I'm going to record so that should be a good night out. Many years ago I worked very briefly with Jack script editing some of his material and writing the odd little bit and he's a really nice guy.

So that's my first blog - fairly boring and workmanlike, I know, but I'm sure I shall warm up with practice. Through all this I’m also attempting to write the third book in The Enemy series which is supposed to be finished by the end of the year, but I find it very hard to concentrate when there’s a lot of other stuff going on. I shall have to knuckle down through October November December and once again I will probably be working right up to the line on Christmas Eve. Somebody once said never marry a writer and they were right." -Charlie Higson, September 2010
