British author John Pearson, Ian Fleming and James Bond biographer, launched his official website on this day.

FSWL would like to congratulate John on the newly completed project and wish him good luck and fun times cyberspace.

Extract from John Pearson's website:
"James Bond has graced our bookshelves and screens for over fifty years. The martini-drinking, super-smooth character has become an icon and national treasure. Like most of the many million James Bond fans around the world, John Pearson assumed that the world's most famous spy was no more than a figment of Fleming's highly charged imagination.

Then he began to have his doubts. He finally became convinced that James Bond was not only real but alive and well in Bermuda."

About John Pearson:
Pearson was born in October 1930 and educated at King's College School and then at Peterhouse in Cambridge where he won a double first in history. He then worked for The Economist, BBC Television and the Sunday Times. (He was Ian Fleming's assistant at the Sunday Times.)

He was commissioned by Donald Campbell to chronicle his successful attempt on the Land Speed Record in 1964 in Bluebird CN7, resulting in the book Bluebird and the Dead Lake.

In 1966, The Life of Ian Fleming, the first biography of Ian Fleming, was published. And in 1973, his acclaimed book James Bond: The Authorized Biography of 007 was published.

In 1967, The Kray twins hired Pearson to write their biography. Over the next several years the brothers, who by now were in jail, wrote frequently to Pearson. He wrote two further books about the Krays: The Cult of Violence: The Untold Story of the Krays and Notorious: The Immortal Legend of the Kray Twins.

Pearson's book Facades, the first full-scale biography of the Sitwell siblings, was published in 1978 as Facades: Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell Sitwell in the UK and The Sitwells in the US the following year.

In 1980, Pearson married his current wife, Lynette Dundas.

In 2006, Warner Bros. purchased the film rights to his 2005 book, The Gamblers. The book was made into a TV series in 2013 called 'Lucan' starring Michael Gambon and Christopher Eccleston, to be aired on ITV1 in two parts on 11th and 18th December 2013.

Editor's note:
Most of John Pearson's books are available to order from Amazon.
